Introduction of Urdu

Urdu (اردو) is the official language of Pakistan, and also a language that accepted of Indian Constitution. Urdu belongs to IndoEuropean languages, distributing in Pakistan, India and Bengal. Totally, there are 10.4 billion people using Urdu, making Urdu the 20th language that most people are using all through the world. Urdu is the national language used by the people at large in Pakistan, and also one of the 24 prescribed languages in India. From macroscopic view, Urdu can be considered as a part of Hindustani; all of Hindustani constitute the forth language in the world.

In Pakistan, people from many cities can speak Urdu, including Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Hyderabad, Gujranwala, Multan and Sukkur. Urdu is the official language in every place, even through 93% of the population do not use it as a mother language. In schools using both English and Urdu, Urdu is a compulsive language to learn until middle high school. In this way, millions of people with their mother language of Panjabi, Sindhi, Pashto, Kashmiri, Seraiki, Brohi, have learnt Urdu. Urdu is also a National symbol of Pakistan, a symbol of unity.

Also, in India, Urdu is used in Uttar Pradesh, Kashmir, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Bombay and some other places. Some Indian schools use Urdu as the first language. Islamic schools in India teach both Arabic and Urdu.

Grammar

In Urdu, there are 12 vowels and 42 consonants. Its grammar is almost the same with that of Hindi. Nouns and some adjectives have the difference in gender, number and form. The ordinary word order is subject-object-predicate. Urdu absorbed a lot of word from Vernacular language of Uttarapatha, and also Arabic, Persian and Turkish. During the period when India is dominated by UK, Urdu absorbed many English words also. Although Urdu and Hindi have huge difference in literature language, they are common in spoken language, called Hindustani (ہندوستانی).

The written language of Urdu is based on Arabic alphabet writing from right to left.

In order to make the layout clean and artistic, there is no space between word and word.

Thus, words in Urdu are written continuously. Most letters have four writing forms. Sometimes it can change to another form in order to make the word more beautiful.
