On 14th day of the month, the Burma Government released at least 200 political criminals, which marks perhaps the boldest signal of changes underway in Burma. In response to this matter, US President Barak Obama announced that it is a “Pragmatic Step” of Burma on the way of revolution.

Western governments have said that the release of jailed dissidents and a stop to fighting in the country’s border regions are key prerequisites for an end to sanctions on Burma. These mean that a great new opportunity is coming!

Since its independence in 1948,Burma has been involved in a long civil war among its myriad ethnic groups. Then, from 1962 to 2011, the country is ruled by military. Finally, in 2011 the ruling military junta was dissolved and a civilian government is installed through a general election.

But, its economy suffered from many countries’ investment and trade sanctions, including the United States and Canada, and the European Union, except the all-the-way economic ties with China and India. While, now the US is planning to completely recover the diplomatic relations with Burma. It can be definitely foreseen that international sanctions can be lifted soon. From today, the situation has taken a great change.

Burma, officially the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, is a country in Southeast Asia, which is bordered by China, Laos, Thailand, Bangladesh and India. One-third of its perimeter of 1,930 km forms an uninterrupted coastline along the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. It is the 40th largest country in the world and the second largest country in Southeast Asia with acreage of 676,578 km2.

Burma is a country rich of resources. It produces stones such as sapphires, pearls and jade. 90% of the world’s rubies come from the country, whose red stones are well known for their purity and hue. Burma’s “Valley of Rubies”, the mountainous Mogok area is famous for its rare pigeon’s blood rubies and blue sapphires.

Other industries include agricultural goods, textiles, wood products, construction materials, gems, metals, oil and natural gas. Especially, regarding to the wood products, 49% of the country is covered with forests, including dense tropical, valuable teak, acacia, bamboo, ironwood, coconut, betel palm, rubber oak , pine, various rhododendrons, etc.

Besides, what is so important? Since 1992, the government has encouraged tourism in the country. Burma is decorated with the symbols of Buddhism everywhere. Thousands of pagodas throng its ancient towns; these have been a focus for an increasingly important tourism industry. Tourism has been and will be a magnet for foreign investment.

With Burma starting to widely participate in the regional and global economic activities, great new opportunities have been smelled by forward-looking investors and entrepreneurs.

No matter the enviable abundant valuable natural resources, the unique geological conditions connecting South Asia with East Asia and other regions across the word, various great potential under-developing markets, or the rich and relatively low-cost labors, Burma is expected to be a new star in the global economy development.

However, language is always the first problem need to be faced for a cross-border business. In Burma, Burmese language is the official language, spoken as a native language by the majority of Burmans and as a second language by most native speakers of other languages in the country.

Burmese belongs to the Tibeto-Burman group of the Sino-Tibetan language family. It is also used in other countries, like Thailand, Bangladesh, Malaysia, the United States, Britain, Australia, Laos, and Singapore by about 28 million people around the world.

English literacy rate in Burma could be very lower than you might expect, and to effectively organize your local crew or cooperate with local partners, you will need precise and clear Burmese translation services to help facilitate your conducting of business in Burma.

Whether it is legal contracts, correspondence, product catalogs, user manuals, or any other types of document, even accompanied investigation or tour guiding, a reliable translation is the key to your business.
