History of Turkmen

Turkmen belongs to the Turkic language family. To be more specific, it’s a member of the southwestern Turkic sub-branch.

The language used to be written with Arab alphabet or Cyrillic alphabet and later Latin alphabet was introduced. But Turkmen do not use characters as c, q, v and x. and some changes will made to loanwords containing these characters. For example, “maximum” will be spelled as “maksimum”.
