The natives usually use Tongan, while citizens and government officials prefer to use English. It is very similar to the languages of Samoan as well as Niue and Uvea (Wallis). Besides the Kingdom of Toga, Tongan is also used in Eastern Samoa, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA and Vanuatu. It is an alphabetic language, with basic word order of VSO (meaning verb-subject-object). In total, there are around 200,000 people using this language.
