Case Study - Life Science
Life Science covers a wide range of fields such as pharmaceuticals, medical products, biotechnology, food, agriculture and chemical products. Up to now, we have been trusted with projects in connections with most of these fields, of which medical equipment has been most frequently represented. A project of massive volume representative of this field is GE Medical Systems, which is comprised of a series of products, including Centricity Cardiology CA 1000 V1.0, Centricity Radiology RA 600 V7.0 and Centricity Digital Hardcopy V1.0. We were requested to localize the user manuals for each of these products, which contain about 160 pages each. The manuals were available for translation as RTF files accompanied by PDF versions for reference. We choose to translate the files using Tageditor to avoid any damage to the many critical tags contained in them. In addition to the preparation of files, we did careful research on the technologies and expertise applied to the instruments in an attempt to fully understand what they can do and how they work. After the translation began to proceed, with the simultaneous sharing of the TM (translation memory) among several translators, we sped up the process without compromising the quality. We kept updating the TM each day using edited dirty files to keep terminological and stylistic consistency and allow the translators to deliver better translation by referring to changes to their work. The expected shortening of the turnaround time allowed us to get well prepared to make the project a perfect and successful one.
