Insight of Mandarin Language

Chinese is written with many of unique typescripts called ideographs. These typescripts comprise of two components – a significant indicating the meaning of a word, and a phonetic indicating the sound.

The new government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), about 40 years ago, decided to simplify the written Chinese language hence making it easier for the masses to become literate. Therefore two different versions of written Chinese came into being – Traditional and Traditional Chinese.

Traditional characters are used in the PRC and Singapore. Mandarin, as the official language of the People’s Republic of China and Taiwan and as one of the official languages of Singapore.
